Benefits


Can I make changes to my Benefit elections at any time during the year?
No, you must wait until the Open Enrollment period to begin to make new selections or make changes. If you experience a Qualifying Event, you will be eligible to make changes. Pet and Legal Insurance can be enrolled in at any time during the year.
I am an OPS employee. Do I qualify for benefits?

OPS employees qualify for benefits if they are classified as a Full Time Employees. If an OPS employee works below 30 hours, they would not be benefit eligible.

What is a measurement period?
Measurement Period as it relates to benefits, counts hours of service to determine eligibility. If you are determined to be eligible for coverage, a benefits package showing your available options will be mailed to you from People First. More information can be found in the Benefits Guide on pages 13 and 14.

People First


How can I add a beneficiary?

You must log in to People First to add your beneficiaries. Should you need assistance with the portal, you can call People First directly at 866-663-4735.

People First Access: PeopleFirst.myflorida.com > Enter your People First ID and password. Your People First ID can be found in Workday in the Personal Tab > Additional Data. Enter your password.

If I need to update my address, do I have to update it in People First and Workday?
You will need to update your address in Workday. Every Wednesday information from Workday is integrated with People First. If you do not see your information updated after the following Wednesday, please contact the Benefits team at benefits@babycatcher.net so that a correction form can be submitted on your behalf to People First.
I need to submit a Legal Name Change. I have provided documentation to HR. Is there anything else I need to do on People First?
Yes, you may log in to your People First account to update your name and upload supporting documentation. The change with People First is expected to take effect within 3-5 business days. Following the change, you will receive new insurance ID cards.

General


What does FTE mean and how does it affect my benefits?
FTE means Full Time Equivalent. If your FTE falls below 0.75 you would not qualify for benefits. Please email benefits@babycatcher.net for more information.
I am resigning the middle of this month, what will happen to my Benefits?
  • Your benefits would continue until the last day of the following month.

Please contact the Benefits team at benefits@babycatcher.net to understand how coverage ends. 

How do I print a temporary Insurance ID card?

Please visit mybenefits.myflorida.com to view the Insurance Provider list. There will be a website and contact information there. You can set up an online account through the insurance website and obtain temporary ID cards.

What is the Employee Educational Scholarship Program (EESP)?

This is a benefit offered to eligible FAU employees that allows for enrollment of up to 6 credit hours of undergraduate or graduate instruction per term after 6 months of employment. Please visit EESP for more information or you can email benefits@babycatcher.net

When do I qualify to participate in the Sick Leave Pool?
Employees must be full-time or part-time employees with one or more years of service and a minimum of 64 unused sick leave hours to apply. Participation is voluntary and must be elected. Please see the policy for more information: Sick Leave Pool Policy
What happens if I resigned from FAU and then returned within a couple of months with a new position?
If 26 weeks have not passed since your most recent termination date, your benefits would continue, and you wouldn’t need to elect any. If you do not wish to receive benefits, you would need to submit documentation to People First showing proof of cover elsewhere.
I need to fill out a salary reduction form. Where can I find this form?

I am a 9-month deferred employee. What happens to my benefits during the summer months?
 From February to May, you would have been double-deducted for insurance benefits so that you will be covered from June to September. For more information, please email benefits@babycatcher.net or find our contact information here: FAU Benefits
How do I enroll in the 457B Retirement Plan?

Payroll


I have Payroll questions. Who can I contact?

How do I make changes to my tax withholding?
Log in to Workday. From your Workday landing page, click on Menu at the top left. Scroll to Pay. Select Withholding Elections to make your changes.
